Only a quick post today, dear readers – and I promise it’s not going to include a re-hash or re-posting of the Man Booker Longlist that was released last week. Not only have I read just one of the twelve books – Bring Up the Bodies is the only one I’d heard of before the big announcement.
So, best to leave that discussion to those who obviously know better.
Trevor at the excellent blog Mookse and the Gripes has created his own forums. There’s a fascinating discussion of the longlist happening there (many of those posting used to haunt the now defunct forums on the Man Booker site). This is definitely the place to go for Booker – and bookish – conversation.
And while we’re on the subject of the Man Booker: the panel of judges for the 2013 International Prize has been announced. Five judges this year (in the past there were only three) – four of whom have backgrounds in/ties to Turkey, Italy, Africa and China. Who knows? Maybe this year we’ll get a winner who wasn’t originally published in English.
*fingers crossed*
Thanks for posting the link to that forum. I’m going to check it out asap!
